Why You Should Use An "Insurance Company Preferred" Contractor: Rapco understands the insurance claim process which makes it easier for both you and your insurance provider. Both the property owner AND the insurance company will feel comfortable and safe with Rapco. Beware of ridiculously high estimates from contractors who have little or no relationship with your insurance company. Also, be cautious of contractors that provide an extremely low estimate for "covered" damage - only to be followed by an exorbitant cost of noncovered work (such as mold) - which will come out of your pocket!
Rapco has been in business since 1977. You'll find many other companies have recently formed within the last couple of years. Rapco has an ASB (asbestos) classification as well as a C-21 (demolition) classification with the California Contractors State License Board. The Contractors State License Board currently does not have a fire and smoke damage classification. However, this type of work is performed in much the same way as asbestos (use of protective suits and respirators). Further, asbestos is often found among fire debris. Our workers are all trained and certified for this type of work. Also, fire damage and debris removal usually involves demolition of walls and ceilings. Hence, a C-21 (demolition license) is recommended and sometimes compulsory. Rapco has a team of professionals waiting to remedy your smoke and/or fire damage. Fire damage, smoke damage and debris removal should be left to experienced and trained crews. Improper removal of fire debris can cause unnecessary damage and unwanted liability. Many times, fire damage is accompanied by water and mold damage. We are equipped for structural drying as well as complete gut outs and sponge wipe downs.
As stated above, smoke and fire damage remediation should be performed by a company that is licensed with the State of California Contractors State License Board. Companies that perform this type of work should, at a minimum, have an ASB (asbestos) classification as well as a C-21 (demolition classification). It is also recommended that fire damage remediation companies register with CAL/OSHA and obtain a registration number that should be offered to all prospective clients. Further, fire damage companies should maintain an adequate level of insurance. All workers who perform this type of work should have proper training in order to assure that the job is completed properly. There are very specialized techniques that must be incorporated in order to assure a safe process. All workers should be covered by worker's compensation insurance to assure that no liability is passed on to the property owner (client).
